Window Tint and rear brake light

I am ready to tint and have been reading all the threads. I noticed the rear brake light mentioned a number of times regarding cutting out around it vs no cutout. I looked at mine and didn't see a way for the installer to get under it.

Looking for info from someone who has had this done.

Did they remove the light to do the tint?
Is it worth having them mess with it?

Any input appreciated.

Window Tint

Honestly; I didn't even think about it when I had gotten my tints done three weeks back. My M3 had the space cut out; I have 5% tints and it is over the rear brake light on my M5; it actually doesn't look bad and doesn't really impair the function of the rear window brake light.

From reading other post it seems the preference is to have it covered with tint for a cleaner look from the outside but I have never seen it one way or the other. I was curious how it was done so I can decide if I want to ask my tint guy to cover it or not.

To be honest, I really don't know how or what my tint guy does. He's supposed to be one of the best in eastern PA. He's done about a doozen cars for me over the years, and responds to my phone calls. I call him the "tint Nazi", if he doesn't like you, your car or the way you look it's "NO TINT FOR YOU". He's a tempremental artist type, but the finished product is always perfect.

Being a window tint business owner, and after just tinting an M6 today, I can tell you that these cars look so much cleaner when a tinter takes the extra 45 seconds to remove the CHMSL(Center High Mount Stop Light) or 3rd brake light (to most of us) .
Any tinter that doesn't remove that light and tint over it is a slacker!

The place I am going (www.altamere.com) has a computer that cuts the film specific to the vehicle. I wonder how the computer cuts it relative to the third brake light.

Yup. My tint was computer cut as well. Popping out the 3rd brake light is easy to do without tools. It just pops off and pops back on. I have one sheet that covers the entire back window. A bit cleaner in looks, though I don;t think anyone would notice but the owner either which way.

Mine is 35%, BTW, and should not pose any "safety" issues."
