Contact list won't sync after Android update

I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact that was running Lollipop 5.1, and from the beginning, my phone and contacts synced right up. Last week the Marshmallow 6.0 update was pushed to my phone, and my contacts were gone. The phone does sync right up, however the contact list won't load, it's stuck on the "Please wait" screen and never does anything. Any incoming or missed calls aren't listed either. So I have to either try to use voice dial or call from my phone then hit output to bluetooth, which is very annoying. I've tired all combinations of rebooting, refreshing, turning it off and on, pair and repaired and paired again, no change. Has this happened to anyone else? My previous Motorola synced up just fine as well with Android 4.something.

Which phone do you have? Did you have to re-pair it? After googling this seems to be a fairly common problem with various BMW models and phones.

Ugh...I just tried a few more things to no avail. Backed up contacts to SD card, disabled WIFI, and restarted phone while it was paired to the car. :grrrrr:

Unfortunately no, I tried my wife's Galaxy S6 and her contact list wouldn't sync either. With hers I did get the popup message on her phone to allow access to her contacts after it connected, so I was hoping it would work. :-(

Finally got around to trying a buddy's iphone and his contacts synced right up, so it's some kind of conflict with Android 6.0.1 :-(
